Frequently Asked Questions

The goal of the New Resident Club is to help members form new friendships by participating in socials, activities and meetings; and to learn about Cape Coral.

Anyone who is a full time or part time resident of Cape Coral. You can be a full time resident or snowbird.

There is a one-time cost of $60 for individuals or $120 for couples to join the New Residents Club. Everyone joining will be placed in a Group made up of other new Members joining that month.  Commonly, the Groups number two to four dozen.  Each Group selects their own unique Group name and Group leader and holds their own activities, as well as participating in the events held by the New Resident Club as a whole.

Upon becoming a Member of the New Resident Club, you are a Member for life. For the first three years of membership, you have voting rights and can serve on the board; after three years, you become a “Non-Voting Member” and can no longer serve on the board.  As a lifetime Member you are able to participate in any socials, activities or meetings of the NRC as well as any socials, activities or meetings of your unique Group.

After joining the New Resident Club, you will be invited to attend the New Member Social, currently scheduled the 1st Tuesday after the general meeting. This Social provides an orientation explaining the history of the New Resident Club and reviewing the activities planned and how to purchase tickets. It is important that you attend this social, if possible, to help select your group name and group leader, and to meet others who will be in your group.

We strongly recommend that you start with the new members’ Group formed in the month you join, for it is the goal of the club to help you meet new people and make new friendships.  Since all Groups will be participating in activities scheduled by the New Resident Club, you and your friend are free to participate in any or all of these activities together.

You do have an option of rejoining the New Resident Club with the newest forming group at no charge, since you are a “lifetime” Member.  You would, however, maintain your original start date relative to either being a voting or non-voting member.

The easiest way to join is online at capecoralnewresident.com.  You also can attend the General Meeting held on the first Thursday of the month at the Lake Kennedy Center (400 Santa Barbara Blvd) – doors open at 8:30am.  It is recommended that you come early to sign-up, since the General Meeting begins promptly at 9:15am.  At the general meeting we review the upcoming activities and enjoy hearing different guest speakers each month about local interests and topics.  It’s a good opportunity to socialize and have complimentary snacks.
